Description
A lobulated tumour arising from the dura and measuring 7 x 10 x 6 cm. Metallic clips may be seen
at the edge of the dura, and posteriorly can be seen the area where tissue has been removed for
microscopy.
History
This man presented at the age of 60 with a history of one year's diminishing interest in
events, and a two-month history of increasing weakness and fatigue; there was a history of one
months dysphasia, difficulty in writing and minimal right hemiparesis. Investigation showed a
large left frontal mass, with a blood supply from the middle meningeal artery compressing the
left frontal lobe and shifting the mid-line across by about one inch. Microscopic examination of
the removed lesion showed that this was a meningioma.
